about

These improvisations were recorded in my apartment, during varying degrees of lockdown, isolation, and premature-openings, over the latter six months of 2020. Each were recorded in a single take, allowing their flaws, digital disappointments, and overall “lacklusterness” to remain intact. They may demand of the listener a certain confrontation - what it is to hear something “just good enough”, the predominating aesthetic of greatest accessibility during the past calendar year.

These improvisations wander, coming back again and again to certain sounds, chords, and behaviors, as if desperately searching for something familiar. Some seem not to know where to end, others perhaps end too soon. Sometimes it would seem as though each beginning is but the same opening salvo, each attempt differentiating itself only through the finding of a new way to fail, fall short, or give up.
