about

As with countless projects, this recording saw the impacts of the pandemic gradually erode the initial contours of the music, to a point where it bears little resemblance to the original “intention”. What’s left are fragments, materials of varying degrees of self-similarity, abandoned attempts at fashioning a whole, and (at least for me) a surprising eclecticism.

The culminating recordings represent a concert to no one, performances for the room in which we played more than anything else.
There are moments where the radiators of the historic house in which this was recorded seem to play with the ensemble, as though wanting to be involved. On other tracks the room noise, normally suppressed, is amplified to draw ones’ attention to the audiencelessness of it all.
